The Wadi Rum posts

After wandering the tracks & ye olde roads of Petra, it was time to head down to Wadi Rum for two days of camping in the desert.

So...what is Wadi Rum ??

You’d be familiar if you’ve watched “Lawrence of Arabia”  - the movie was filmed there.

Wadi Rum is a series of valleys stretching north to south, punctuated by these massive mountains of sandstone and granite called “jebels”. Narrow canyons and fissures cut deep into these mountains, sometimes concealing ancient rock drawings etched by the peoples of the desert over millennia.

The Bedouin still live among the landscape: their large goat-hair tents are a feature of this landscape.

This next series of posts will be about the great time we had there, driving in the back of a 4WD (open at the sides but covered), taking in all the sights.

Enjoy.
