As mentioned in the previous
post, Darjeeling overlooks the thrid highest mountain in the world, Kangchenjunga.
Until 1852, it was
thought to be the highest mountain in the world but a geological survey
conducted in 1849 discovered that Everest was actually the highest mountain.
Watching sunrise over Kangchenjunga is one of the must-see activities.
You (and it seems like the entire
population and tourists) get up at 4.00am and drive up to Tiger Hill, to the viewing
platform to watch sunrise over Kangchenjunga.
It is pretty spectacular to see
and there is a great cry that erupts from the crowd when the first rays hit the
mountain.
