Weekend break in Singapore (Part one)

This weekend just passed, Tania & I (along with our friends Chris & Manfred) went to Singapore for a bit of a break.

We arrived in the afternoon & checked into the lovely Fullerton Hotel (located in the financial district). The Fullerton used to be the old post office. It’s a very impressive & quite beautiful building.

After taking a little bit of time to freshen up, we headed out to dinner – this restaurant called Jim Thompson (in Dempsey Hill – near the Australian Embassy) for a serving of Thai.

The food was excellent; the ingredients so fresh & the taste simply divine.

The yummy fish cakes

Chicken Satay

The spicy vegetable salad

The beef satay

Our entrees consisted of a selection of chicken & beef satay skewers, fish cakes (they were so good !!) & a (incredibly) spicy vegetable salad.

The main courses consisted of (& served with jasmine rice):

Pad Thai
Beef Massaman
Duck Curry
Green Chicken Curry

The really great Pad Thai

The Massaman Curry

The amazing Duck Curry

None of the desserts on offer took our fancy so we headed back to the hotel for a late dessert from the café on the ground floor.

I had the Crème Brulee (couldn’t help myself), Tania had the New York cheesecake , while Chris & Manfred had a sort of sorbet dish.

The servings were huge & this was reflected in the size of the bill (with water, soft drinks & coffee) - $SGD 138
