Happy Diwali

It’s Diwali here in India today. Known as the “Festival of Lights”, it is the most important festival in the Hindu religion.

Think of it as the equivalent of the western Christmas.

The only difference is: the firecrackers. Yep !! Part of Diwali are the fireworks going off around the suburbs. We’re not talking little bangers, we’re talking some serious explosions going off all day & all night in the lead up.

Another feature of Diwali is the lights: people hang faerie lights out the front of the apartment, in the trees, anywhere that looks good. Here are some photos of some of the lights around the suburb:
