Paella in Valencia

After picking up our hire car, we programmed our Top Gear Tom-Tom to take us to Valencia.

We managed to make it into the centre of the city okay but then took one wrong turn down a narrow (one way) street & we were lost for about an hour. In the end, I had to go for a walk to figure out where we were in relation to our hotel, & then how to get the car there.

Valencia is located on the East coast of Spain – facing the Mediterranean.

It’s quite a beautiful city to walk around. There is a dry lake bed running around the old city which has been converted into parks with walking tracks, bicycle tracks & cafes/bars.

There’s an amazing series of building down by the beach called Ciutat de les Arts i les Ciències (City of Arts and Sciences). At the very end of the complex of buildings is the Aquarium.

Some of the amazing buildings from the Ciutat de les Arts i les Ciències:

As with any Spanish city, Valencia has an amazing central market (Mercado Centrale) which a true joy to wander through. Seeing all those amazing foods left you just salivating:

Ah Jamon !! How I've missed you !!

One thing that Valencia is famous for is Paella. So....how could you not try some of the amazing varieties of Paella ??
