A trip to Darjeeling - Sunrise over Kangchenjunga

As mentioned in the previous post, Darjeeling overlooks the thrid highest mountain in the world, Kangchenjunga.

Until 1852, it was thought to be the highest mountain in the world but a geological survey conducted in 1849 discovered that Everest was actually the highest mountain.

Watching sunrise over Kangchenjunga is one of the must-see activities.

You (and it seems like the entire population and tourists) get up at 4.00am and drive up to Tiger Hill, to the viewing platform to watch sunrise over Kangchenjunga.

It is pretty spectacular to see and there is a great cry that erupts from the crowd when the first rays hit the mountain.

I hope you like the photos:

That small bump in the middle is actually Everest
