A visit up to Dharamshala

After our visit to Amritsar, Paul and I headed up into the mountains to visit the town of Dharamshala (well...we actually stayed at a place called McLeod Ganj – 7km up the road) in the state of Himachal Pradesh.

If the name Dharamshala sounds familiar to you, it’s where the Dali Lama lives (when in India) and is where the Tibetan Government in Exile is based.









The mountains (and the mountain air) made a welcome change from the plains of the Punjab.










The place is surrounded by pine forests and has spectacular views of some of the Himalayas. There’s a great viewing spot in the village of Nadi where you can see amazing sunsets.
